After I became serious about selling on eBay I bought a few eBay books (few? how about 6) in order to prepare myself to succeed. I wasn’t sure which books would be the best so I bought about 6 or 7. I read every single one of them from cover to cover. Some of them were very good while others were worthless. The best ones were, believe it or not, “eBay for Dummies” and “Starting an eBay Business for Dummies”. Yea, I know everyone thinks the “Dummies” books are a joke. Some are and some are not. These 2 were written by Marsha Collier and are very good and helped me become a Power Seller on eBay. They are easy to read cover to cover and are great to keep as a reference. Marsha Collier also has a website with lots of eBay tools and tips. Her website was very useful. I think I downloaded a tool that creates HTML listings for eBay. I think it was free too. You can also contact her with questions. Great resources!!!
eBay For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))
Starting an eBay Business For Dummies (For Dummies (Business & Personal Finance))
There is so much to learn about selling on eBay. From these books, you’ll learn what products sell well on eBay, how to research a product using the eBay completed listing search where you can see if the product sells and if it does for how much. You can also find out how many sellers are selling the product. Another great chapter was on creating a good listing with html and good pictures. Remember a picture is worth a thousand words. One of the best ways to sell a product is with a great picture. Bad pictures make the listing look cheap and unprofessional. No one will want to bid on it either. Marsha also tells you where to buy a lighting setup to make your pictures look professional with the proper lighting. You’ll also learn why and how to create an effective “About Me” page. Also how to handle customer questions and complaints. Customer service is very important. She covers payment options like Paypal and BidPay. These are great online payment systems that make selling online easy. She also talks about listing tools like Mister Lister. These tools can list hundreds of products at once. They are a must if you become a Power Seller on eBay. You will also learn everything about starting a business up from the paperwork to accounting and sales. These 2 eBay books for Dummies are a must have for every eBay seller.
