3/10/10 Update - Blogger blog is now #59 in Google for same keyword phrase

This could be some really big traffic for the #1 spot on google…like 4,000 visitors per day! Let’s convert that to AdSense money.  This blog converts around 10% … based on the average click value, this would amount to $88/day or $2640/month. That’s some serious money from one blog and one keyword phrase!!!

I’ll update this post when some data comes in. I’m curious to see how much PR is passed along and its effect on the SERPs.

As it stands it is #83 for a keyword that has 14,000 searches per month and 1.3 million competing pages. This position is pretty good considering it has only 4 pages and no backlinks. It should be pretty easy to get #1 on Google.

I’m adding a PR7 link today. I’m going to watch the SERPs for any changes.

I’ve always wanted to know if it’s better to get quantity or quality links. I will determine that shortly.

I’ll post the results as they materialize.

I was wrong. It’s now been about 6 months and the blog has moved from “not in the top 500″ to # 62 for one keyword and # 83 for another. These keywords have 2.5 million and 4.4 million competing sites with 400,000 searches per month.

I was totally surprised!!!

This Blogger Blog only has 500 backlinks too. It shouldn’t take too many more backlinks to move to the first page and then to #1 which could mean 1,200-2,000 visitors per day. This could cash out to $30/day via AdSense.

So what kinds of backlinks work?

There are many types of backlinks that work such as web directories, blog comments, blog roll, social bookmarking and Article Directories.

Article directories are a great source of backlinks and traffic. They are high PR and have lots of traffic.

It is however very tedious to submit articles to the hundreds of directories. I used to do it manually but now pay an SEO firm to do it for me. You can do it yourself though.

Do link wheels really work?

Or is it all SEO hype?

Let’s see. If you really think about what a link wheel is then you will know the answer. It’s right out in the open. No magic here.

A link wheel is no more than a number of websites linking together like the spokes of a wheel. Each website connects to another and also to your “money” site. It’s pretty simple. Then backlinks are built to each web 2.0 website in order to build authority…in theory anyway.

So a link wheel is no more than a number of websites linking to your “money” site.

So what is all they hype?

I bought a complex link wheel to see what the results would be. I hoped it would be spectacular. I learned the hard way. $299 down the drain. Not spectacular at all.

When you really think about it, they’re just regular links. You can get links like these anywhere…blog comments, link directories, article directories, etc.

If you look at the SERPs, you will notice some websites with a lower Pagerank ahead of some with a higher Pagerank. I have seen websites with zero Pagerank at #1 on Google. I have a blog that is #1 for a keyword phrase and it is a zero Pagerank.

Backlinks and anchor text are the KEYS to the SERPs. It is way more powerful than on page SEO and quality content.

Let me prove my point.

I have a celebrity wealth site, www.money-moguls.com that is # 1 in Google and Yahoo for the keyword phrase “money moguls”. I do not use this keyword phrase anywhere in the blog posts yet it ranks #1 in Google and Yahoo. So why? Well, all of the anchor text in the 3,000 backlinks have “Money Moguls” as the anchor text.

Makes sense doesn’t it? There are many crappy websites that rank well for good keyword phrases. I often wondered why.

Now I know and so do you.

99% of the time, you cannot build links too fast for Google or any other search engine to care let alone penalize your website. First of all, links have to be indexed which takes some time. It can take several months for some links to get indexed.

I have built quite a few websites in the past 5 years and can tell you that the speed of link building should not be a concern unless you buy 100,000 links in a single day. I have added several thousand links in a 30 day period and never had any problems. It took a few months for all of the links to get indexed anyway.

I have ordered 1500 - 2500 link directory submission services in the past which were completed in 10 days. There were no negative results. After the links were approved and indexed, the blog gained PR and received more traffic. This does not happen overnight though. Be patient after you do link building. Give it time to gain PR.

So don’t be concerned with building backlinks too fast. You will not get penalized by any of the search engines.

If you enjoy writing about your favorite subject, then you can earn extra cash from Hubpages. I earn about $3-$5 per day with 40 hubs. I don’t even backlink them either. If you do some backlinking, you can earn much more than that.

How do you earn money with Hubpages?

Hubpages will display Google Adsense ads in your hub which will draw clicks from visitors. Hubpages pays you 60% of the ad impressions from all ads that you are an affiliate for like Adsense, ebay or Amazon. It’s pretty slick!

Here’s all you have to do:

1. Register for a Hubpages account

2. Enter your affiliate accounts in your Hubpages account

2. Research low competition keywords

3. Write 500 word or more article on the keywords you selected

4. Create some backlinks using social bookmarking, blog comments or article marketing

5. Start 2nd article

It’s really a no brainer and easy to setup. You will be surprised at how much you can earn. I get quite a few clicks that are over $1 each.

Here is a great tool that I use to help with article writing. It’s transcription or voice recognition software aka Naturally Speaking Dragon.

Here is how it works. You talk into a microphone and the software types the words for you. Cool huh?

First install the software on your computer. You will need a microphone in order to speak into. You can use any USB type microphone. When you start Naturally Speaking Dragon, you will be taken through a tutorial where you will start to train Dragon to recognize your voice. Do all of the training modules and then you will be ready to start transcribing. You can use Word or the word processing application that comes with Dragon.

This will speed up your article writing to 80 or 90 words per minute. and no more cramped fingers or hands. I use it all the time.
