After you have been posting articles on your blog for a year or so and are receiving some good traffic, it’s time to start monetizing or earning money with your blog. One excellent method of earning money with your blog is to sell ad space on your blog. Advertisers will pay you a monthly fee to have their text link on your blog. This type of monetization provides a steady stream of income month after month.
I use 2 text ad affiliates on my Money Moguls blog. I’m using Text Link Ads and Kontera. They’re really easy to implement. You just sign up for a publisher account, wait for your blog to get approved and then add the code to your blog. Text link Ads will market your blog to prospective clients. Companies browse blog listings to see which blogs they would like to advertise their products on. If they choose your blog, you get paid a weekly or monthly fee for hosting their link on your blog. It’s that simple and works really well.
How much money do you earn? That all depends on how much traffic your blog has. Some ads bring thousands per month while others a few dollars per month. Traffic is usually measured by the Alexa rank. The lower the Alexa rank the more traffic. JohnChow.com has an Alexa rank of 52,000. Money-Moguls.com as of 12/23/08 has an Alexa rank of 1,200,000 and is receiving 900 visitors per day. So you can see how much traffic JohnChow.com must be getting….HUGE. He also earns about $28,000 per month. That is what determines how much your ads will sell for. The more traffic…the more money.
It’s very easy to add the code to a WordPress blog that is widget ready. You just open a widget, paste the code in, close the widget and then click on update. You’re done. The ads will appear in the widget when they are sold. You don’t have to do anything else. It’s always a good idea to place the ad widget in a good position on your side bars; top left, top right or bottom right. You’ll want them to get clicks or your advertisers will not renew the ads.
Selling text ads on your blog is a great way to earn money online.
